In other words, why are we doing this? Regularly ask this question. Perhaps the topic should not be on the table right now? It is difficult to reach the finish line in the best of circumstances but virtually impossible if we forgot why we are even traveling in this direction.

When making decisions visualize all aspects of the outcome. Is this really what we want? The change leader cannot only communicate once. In meetings, promote people raising their hand and claiming boredom. This is a sure sign that we may be off base, going through the motions because we think we should or because the momentum led us here. Reminders and reality checks are keys to success.
