Some mornings it just doesn’t seem worth it to gnaw through the leather straps. — Emo Phillips
The job of the change leader can be a very frustrating one. The process of changing very deeply ingrained cultural values is a detailed, lonely, seemingly thankless job.
As we’ve talked about many times, example is the best teacher and persuader. Show people the different way to do it. Fight it out. Don’t let any situation that reinforces the old way go without addressing it. Confront it (above and below you in the pecking order). This is hard. Don’t let them beat you down. Take care of yourself. Get away from the struggle periodically. Keep your energy up because unwavering diligence is the only answer.
