Change leaders are consistently surprised by the seemingly irrational reactions people have to decisions. Select various people to test your ideas. Seek out reactions to proposed decisions from multiple parties. Based on the responses from your small representative group you can adjust the communication of the decision to consider all constituencies. More time spent up front but certainly a ‘pay me now or pay me later’ situation.
Tip: Seek out a large network to serve this need for you so your requests to the same person aren’t too frequent — otherwise they’ll start to give you the reactions you want to hear.
