A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices. — William James
We simply don’t have the option of everything remaining the same. A business editor recently changed the header of my monthly column of change articles from Managing Change to Managing Growth.
Initially I thought this was an error. However, after some reflection I realized that there is a significant relationship in the two terms. Change is growth, and growth is change. My personal definition of success is having choices. We can choose to hold onto “old” thoughts and be buffeted by the winds of change like a leaf in autumn landing in a “new” environment, or we can control our flight path and ride the winds of change to a destination in line with our choices.
